The Oakfields flock resides at Kilby Grange Farm, a commercial sheep farm in South Leicestershire comprising of 500+ North Country mules and Suffolk mules. The Oakfields flock was established in 1998 with 6 ewes from the Welland flock, 2 from the Camster flock and 4 (4-horned) ewes from the Feckenham flock. Since then the flock has grown, with the best lambs kept or sold on as breeding stock. Any lambs surplus to this are selected to end up on the dinner plate!
There are currently 40 pedigree jacob ewes, 15 ewe lambs, 3 tup lambs, 14 Jacob X Berrichon ewes and 4 Jacob X Charolais ewes. Not all the pure Jacob ewes are put to a Jacob ram- approximatley 10 are put to a Beltex X Berrichon ram. The resulting lambs are polled, well meated and fast growing lambs that are destined for the supermarket.
